Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
⏰ Early afternoons: Beat the post-hike rush by coming before 2:00 PM on weekends for the best shot at a good seat.
🍻 Mug club drop: Ask at the bar about the locals’ mug club and small-batch release schedule.
🔥 Firepit tip: Bring a jacket past dusk—the patio firepit is a favorite gathering spot when the temperature dips.
🎶 Live shows: Keep an eye on their socials for impromptu acoustic sets, which fill up the taproom fast.
What folks are saying

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Guests praise the variety and freshness of beers—IPAs and rotating seasonals get frequent shoutouts. Service is fast and friendly even when crowded, with staff remembering locals and newcomers by their orders. Food stands out beyond usual brewery fare: smash burgers, tacos, cauliflower wings, and fries all draw raves for flavor and quick turnaround. Families and hikers mix easily on the patio, and live music nights draw lively crowds. The casual, order-at-the-bar style makes things move, but expect peak hours to be bustling and loud. A rare negative: some report beer in cans isn't as fresh as on tap, and there's the occasional off night for food, but most find value and consistency here.
