Haley's Pick 🍽️

Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
🐐 Goat Greeters: The goats have names and sometimes steal a slice—watch your plate, especially if you sit on the grass.
🍺 Backyard Beers: Ask for the local draft Pilsner or cider on tap—seasonal kegs rotate but sell out over busy weekends.
🔥 Pig Roast Sundays: Some Sundays feature a chef’s barbecue—follow their social for pig roast or smoked rib days.
🌄 Sunset Tables: The side lawn catches late sun. Reserve an evening slot—sunset stretches long and you’ll want extra time for one more pour.

Guests praise the wood-fired pizza—crisp crust, bold toppings, and a rotating chef’s special. The house apple wine runs dry and honest, with many noting it’s more refreshing than expected. Groups love the informal tables and yard games, while families let kids meet the goats and dog, Asterix. The host, Alex, draws repeat thanks for his laid-back hospitality, though several note that you’ll need a reservation—seats go quick and walk-ins are turned away. Best for those who want to linger outside and eat among regulars and animals.
