Haley's Pick 🍽️

Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
🎣 Best Fly Waters: The inn’s private stretch of the Beaverkill River is known for May–June hatches; early mornings are quietest for fishing.
⏰ Late Arrivals: If you’re coming in late, call ahead—the front door is old-school keyed, and staff will leave the lights on for you.
🍦 Ice Cream Ritual: Don’t skip the serve-yourself old-fashioned ice cream parlor, especially fun for kids post-swim or hike.
🌲 Secret Trails: Look for the Fern Trail behind the tennis court—shady, cool, and almost always empty, even on weekends.

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Guests call out the steady friendliness of the staff and a rhythm that feels unhurried. Rooms are reliably clean if sometimes small or simply furnished, and meals—especially breakfast and dinner—draw steady praise for quality and care. The indoor pool, trails, porch, and riverside setting spark stories for families and anglers. Accessibility and room size can be a challenge for some, and rare maintenance quirks—like sticky doors or aged hardware—make the rounds, but are usually balanced by the hospitality and upkeep elsewhere. The rare negative review points to management style or aging decor, yet most guests leave grateful and already plotting their return.
