Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
🍺 New Release Drops: Ask at the bar for what’s just tapped—new cans and seasonals drop Fridays, often gone by Sunday.
🥾 Pre/Post-Hike Stop: Best time for a quiet pint is weekday afternoons before the dinner crowd rolls in, especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
🪩 Music Under the Tent: Weekend afternoons often mean live music in the garden—bring a blanket if you plan to settle in.
🧥 Jacket Needed in Fall: Tent and patio seating are open year-round, but it gets chilly when the sun drops behind the trees.

Local and visiting crowds call out the fresh, creative beers—especially Devil’s Path IPA, Ball Lightning, and sours—plus knowledgeable, upbeat bartenders. The on-site food truck gets high marks for burgers and truffle fries, though some wish for broader options. The brewery’s woodstove tent and picnic table garden offer plenty of spots for gathering with friends, pups, or kids. Live music and a friendly, lively buzz make weekends busiest. Some mention higher pint prices; rare complaints about food truck hours or noise but most leave eager for another round.
