Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
🍋 Off-menu perks: If you ask, the kitchen sometimes has a second round of appetizers or an unlisted dessert—just check with your server.
🥩 Specials board: Seafood, steak, and veal options usually rotate each night—watch the board for what's just come off the line.
🍸 Martini hour: Bartender pours are notoriously generous—grab a seat early at the bar if you want the first shake from a batch drink before dinner.
🥗 Seasonal salads: Summer brings lighter, fruit-forward apps and salads; fall means earthy roots and plenty of mushrooms.

What folks are saying

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Solaia earns high praise for attentive service and welcoming staff, with many regulars mentioning the personal touch from owners and servers. Guests rave about the fresh, expertly prepared Italian classics and specials, paired with a solid wine list and strong cocktails. The dining atmosphere is relaxed and softly upscale—never rushed, often ideal for celebrations. Most agree desserts, especially the crème brûlée and chocolate soufflé, stand out. While the majority call prices fair for quality, a few diners have noted unpredictable wait times or wished for clearer menu pricing, but consistent food and hospitality set this spot apart in Sullivan County.
