Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
☀️ Early Tee Times: The first hours after sunrise see the smoothest greens and fewest groups—especially on weekends.
🍺 Deck Break: The turn after 14 goes by the clubhouse; regulars linger on the deck with cold beers before heading out for the final four.
🌬️ Mountain Breather: Watch for shifting winds on exposed back-nine holes—putts roll faster toward Mount Utsayantha.
⛳ Shoulder Season Play: April and October see lighter play and lower rates, but expect occasional aeration and weather delays.

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Most golfers praise Stamford’s mountain views, quick and true greens, and the character built into its rolling fairways. The scenery and friendly local crowd set the rhythm, while the mostly classic layout offers plenty of challenge, especially for first-timers learning the breaks. Some report that fairways can run rough, especially after heavy rain, and isolated staff interactions at the pro shop have drawn frustration even as the bar and restaurant get high marks for hospitality. The course holds up thanks to a seasoned grounds crew and reasonable rates; rounds here rarely feel rushed.
