Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
☀️ Patio Season: The back patio is best at lunchtime on weekdays before the evening rush starts after 5:00 PM.
🍺 Strong Pours: Cocktails are on the stiffer side—try their house specials or stick to draft IPA if you want to keep it mellow.
🌮 Veggie Swaps: Menu includes black bean burgers and wraps clearly marked vegetarian; kitchen is happy to modify sides.
🐕 Bring Your Pup: Dogs welcome at outdoor tables but not under the awning—plan on the outer patio if bringing a four-legged friend.
What folks are saying

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Most visitors appreciate Stella’s for no-nonsense burgers, hearty sandwiches, and cold beers on the wide patio. Service is generally friendly but can slow down at peak times or on busy summer nights. The covered patio is popular with locals for its easygoing, open-air atmosphere—especially when the weather is good. Some note paper plates and simple presentation, but most find prices fair for the area. Recurring negatives: can get loud inside and crowded in prime hours; a handful mention long waits, especially for drinks when staff is stretched.
