Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

🍝 Cacio e Pepe Ritual: Regulars swear by the cacio e pepe—try it with a glass of white if available.
🥂 Early Table Tip: Early reservations catch the kitchen’s full attention and a quieter room.
☀️ Patio Afternoons: On warm nights, the side patio is mellow and welcoming—even better with a spritz in hand.
🧀 Mozzarella Matters: The fresh bufala mozzarella comes in direct from Italy—don’t skip it if on the menu.

What folks are saying
.svg)
Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Guests find Via Cassia’s pastas and Italian plates honest and well-prepared, with particular praise for cacio e pepe and seasonal specials. The chef’s presence and attention to detail are noted, along with a staff that brings energy to the room and helpful suggestions. While most appreciate the intimate setting, a few mention crowded peak hours or lapses in pacing and communication during rushes. A handful find some dishes inconsistent or the dining room loud at busy times, but many call it their go-to spot on Warren Street for a meal that feels both personal and lively.
