Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

🍳 Early Breakfast: The clubhouse serves up a hearty breakfast—get there before 10:00 AM for hot eggs or a fresh sandwich at the turn.
🛺 Cart All The Way: Plan to ride; the back nine in particular is nearly impossible on foot for most players.
🌬️ Watch the Wind: Ridge holes play harder with the prevailing west wind, especially on 4, 13, and 17—club up.
🌱 Late April Care: Course often aerates greens in late April; expect some bumpiness the first two weeks of May.

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Golfers note the steep terrain and quirky mountain layout—some call it a fun challenge, others find it punishing to walk. Conditions are variable; greens are consistently in good shape and roll slow, while fairways can be patchy or rough in dry spells. Many appreciate the family-run feel and fair prices, though signage and cart maintenance could be better. Staff is usually helpful, pace of play is relaxed except for busy weekend mornings, and the views from ridge lines are worth the grind.
