Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights
🥁 Fridays Dance: Salsa under the stars starts up late spring, drawing a lively crowd — arrive by 6:30 PM for a seat.
🍕 Prime Pie Time: For the shortest line and freshest pizza, get there at opening or after 7 PM (rush hits 5–7 PM, especially weekends).
🌳 Bring a Blanket: The best picnic is on the lawn, especially if tables fill — bring a blanket and try the cider flight at sunset.
🍓 Summer Fruit: Check the farmstand for limited raspberries and other fruit in season — sometimes just after a rain you'll find the best haul.
What folks are saying

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Guests love the open grounds, easy pace, and chances to relax outside with kids or dogs. Cider flights and thin-crust pizzas get high marks, with most folks lingering after finishing to catch live music, yard games, or just the scene. Service is fast but informal—everything ordered at the counter, food brought to picnic tables by staff or called for pickup. Portions run on the smaller side and pricing is higher than a roadside slice, but most say the experience is worth it. On Sundays and sunny weekends, the lawn can get busy, and parking can feel tight. Music nights and special events sometimes fill seats quickly—early arrival is smart if you want table space.
