Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.
The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.
Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.
It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

🧀 Slice Secret: Ask for the cheese and ricotta slice if you want something extra creamy—it often sells out early.
👨👦 Old School Staff: The same family has run the kitchen for decades; regulars say the pies haven't changed since the '80s.
🌱 Veggie Options: There's usually a vegetarian special on the board, and you can ask for extra toppings or no cheese for vegan needs.
📺 Arcade Throwback: Kids (and adults) can pass the time at the small set of arcade games near the front tables.

What folks are saying
.svg)
Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Pizza Star has built a loyal local following with its reliably thin-crust pizza, classic hot and cold subs, and speedy, no-fuss counter service. Customers often praise the sauce, cheese pies, and large portions, noting the pizza stands up to city shops and the menu covers comfort classics from garlic knots to veal parm. Staff can be brisk, and a few reviewers report inconsistent experiences at the register, but most return for the longstanding recipes and fair prices. The steady hands in the kitchen and a clean, retro space keep folks coming back for lunch or a slice after work.
