Haley's Pick 🍽️

You probably know her as @milehighandhungry. Each week, Haley shares the one place she’s obsessed with right now. From hidden gems to hot new openings, if she picks it, it’s worth the hype.

Haley's Review of Riot BBQ
Riot BBQ on South Delaware feels like a backyard cookout run by a Top Chef, because it is. Chef Manny Barella and pitmaster Patrick Klaiber have teamed up to blend Monterrey flavors with Texas-style smoke, and the results are seriously craveable.

The brisket steals the show: tender, deeply smoky, and finished with Barella’s bold spice rub. Get it solo or wrapped in buttery Raquelita tortillas. The pulled pork brings heat with ancho, guajillo, and morita chiles, and the al pastor ribs are sticky, sweet, and slightly charred in all the right ways.

Even the sides are insanely good! Think crunchy pepita-macha slaw and banana pudding served in a jar that tastes just like childhood (but better). Every bite feels intentional.

It’s barbecue with heart, history, and just the right amount of heat. Riot BBQ isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment worth lining up for.

Local Insights

🍳 Brunch Tip: Early weekend brunch means less crowd and strong morning light—ask for a window table for sunrise or changing colors in fall.

🔥 Fire Pit Evenings: After dinner, grab a drink and head outside to the fire pit; blankets are often on hand and mountain stars show up after dusk.

🌾 Chef's Special: Watch for rotating dishes inspired by the chef’s Puebla roots—if you see a mole or seasonal tamale, grab it before it’s gone.

🐕 Dog Policy: Leashed pups are welcome on the patio, and staff sometimes brings out homemade dog treats if you ask.

What folks are saying

Based on the 50 most recent Google reviews
Prospect at Scribner's draws diners for panoramic views, a lively yet relaxed setting, and a menu anchored by ribeye, trout, burgers, and inventive vegetarian plates. Guests praise the quality of ingredients, presentation, and standout staff, especially at dinner. The cocktails and desserts rarely disappoint, and special occasions feel well cared for. Some diners wish for a broader, more consistent menu and report slow service or rushed table-turns at busy times. While views and atmosphere nearly always earn high marks, value for price and portion sizes get mixed reviews—though the experience and setting keep most folks coming back.
